Catherine van Doesburg
bio
With a velvety voice and sharp indie-pop songs, Catherine Van Doesburg is emerging as a promising new figure in Québec’s music scene. A self-taught singer-songwriter, she draws on personal experiences and her communicative sensitivity to craft candid, relatable stories set to music.
Born in Amos into a family of musicians and music lovers, Catherine discovered her passion for singing early and began writing her own songs at 17. Inspired by artists like The Weeknd and Billie Eilish, she initially wrote in English, finding the language a comforting emotional distance.
In early 2020, she stepped onto the stage for the first time, accompanying herself on piano, and soon released her self-produced songs on digital platforms. Her talent quickly caught the attention of L’Ours Label & Tournées, her native Abitibi–based label, with whom she signed shortly after. This new chapter allowed her to refine her stagecraft, including opening for BEYRIES in 2022.
In September 2024, Catherine released her debut EP, Cœur à cœur, recorded and produced by Ken Presse. On stage, she performs both her original songs and covers of the artists who shaped her. She recently drew attention for a standout collaboration with Zagata on “À prendre ou à laisser,” further cementing her status as an emerging artist to watch.
